How we make POP CAKES
Step 4* or 5 if they have Himalayan salt
We then pOp them and pack them right away to maintain that fresh and delicious taste.

Step 4*
This is where we brine the sprouted grains in the delicious high mineral ionic Himalayan salt. This salt contains all the minerals needed to allow the salt to quickly get into the cells where it is needed.

Where we first started
pOp Cakes LLC Started in January 2013 at the Rogue Valley Growers and Crafters market in Ashland Oregon. We popped our first cake in April of that same year. We could not be where we are today without the great community support and the delicious and fresh taste of our pOp Cakes. We thrive to keep innovating our simple and delicious snack.
A little about me and how got the idea for pOp cakes
pOp cakes was an idea that came from a thought I had about my childhood. Growing up in Florida we spent a lot of time in the aisles of our local coop, the large wood barrels of flour permeated our clothing and the nostalgia comes back every time I smell bulk ingredients. A lot of time has passed and growing up the way I did was normal for us but very different from the conservative natives that we were surrounded by. I ended up joining the military as a kind of revolt against how I was raised. I was stationed all over the world and spent four years of my career in Japan where I met my lovely wife after which I volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan. As a medic I saw many things those of which linger with me today and the only way I can overcome that time abroad is to get back to my roots. The time in the Middle East allowed me to rethink my path and I decided the military no longer offered what I needed so in 2006 I was honorably discharged.
After having my first beautiful baby girl I wanted to do something that allowed me to express who I am and also give the same delicious snacks that I remember eating while growing up. The one snack I always remember eating were rice cakes slathered in freshly ground peanuts from the red grinding machine at the coop. The taste and crunch was unforgettable. We weren’t allowed to eat sweets but once in a while we would get a little bit of honey and that to me was an outta this world treat. As a father I wanted to pass on these memories through my taste buds and so I went to our local food coop and bought some rice cakes, fresh peanut butter and honey and built then presented this masterpiece to my daughter. I watched as the rice cake was lifted and then chomped on and waited for the excited look but it never came instead it was a look of dissatisfaction I wondered what was wrong I took a bite of the rice cake and realized instantly what was wrong. These newly opened rice cakes tasted stale and did not have the crunch I thought I remembered. My moment to pass on this nostalgic memory was ruined.
These rice cakes were unacceptable. Instead of trying to get a refund for this bag of rice cakes I had an idea. I can do this better and build new memories not just for me and my family but for all those families who want to eat something that tastes fresh and delicious from the first rice cake to the last and pOp cakes was started.
We strive to make a healthier more delicious snack that can be enjoyed a million ways from Sunday. I hope that with our cakes you can create a small but lasting memory that can be passed from generation to generation.
Thank you for reading and we look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely
